I'm just going to come out and say it... I really do judge a book by it's cover. I like pretty looking books - guilty as charged! Another thing is that the book has to be easy to get into. Sometimes I have the attention span of a 4 year old and something needs to grab me from the get go or else I won't read it.
This is one of those books. The synopsis is... when newly single Tilly Cole impulsively quits her London job for a fresh start in the small town of Roxborough she finds she's arrived in a hotbed of gossip, intrigue and rampant rivalry for the most desirable men. Tilly has no intention of joining in – she's just happy with her new Girl Friday job. Then she meets Jack Lucas. Jack is irresistible… and he's got his eye on Tilly. But there are shocking rumours about his wicked reputation. Tilly doesn’t want to be just another notch on anyone's bedpost. But is she being mature and sensible – or is she running away from the love of her life?

It's a nice easy read. I could relate to the character and play the story out in my mind as if it was a film, picturing each character and scenario. I literally could not wait to start reading again, and it was one of those "one more chapter" situations and then four chapters later its 2am and very much past my bedtime! The way in which Jill Mansell writes is warm, modern and believable. Nothing too descriptive, but enough description that you feel there in the book with the characters.
I really recommend it if your looking for a nice easy girly read. None of the books I read are really on serious subject matter. I prefer "chick lit". Reading has to be enjoyable and pure escapism and these are the kind of books that I enjoy.
I hope you enjoyed my quick review, I'll be posting about I Heart New York, which I've just finished, in the next few days.
