UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE

My skin at present is normal / dry. I have started to notice very fine lines on my forehead so have begun to buy products more suited to anti-ageing and the first signs of ageing as a preventative measure. I'm 26 next month so I think I'm probably getting to the right age to start using these kinds of products, if not I'm ahead of the game!

NIGHTIME - First I remove my eye makeup using Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Make-up Remover out of habit really and to use it up, then follow with Johnsons Face Wipes again out of habit, then I use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish* with a muslin cloth, I then spritz my face with Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic which smells so good, next I apply Palmers Cocoa Butter Line Smoothing Eye Cream and finish with Palmers Cocoa Butter Night Renewal Cream.

DAYTIME - I will usually cleanse with just warm water and a muslin cloth but sometimes I can't help myself and need to use Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish again just because I like it so much, as before I then spritz Liz Earle Instant Skin Boost Tonic, then dab some Palmers Cocoa Butter Line Smoothing Eye Cream on my eye area and follow Soap & Glory Catch a Wrinkle in Time Day Moisturiser.

I have a full review to come on Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish which I'll post during the week!

REVIEW : CLARINS LIQUID BRONZE FACIAL SELF TANNER

I'm sure that I'm not the only one suffering from a pale complexion at the moment here in the UK. I only have to look at the thermometer on my car showing 5 degrees and I can feel all colour wash from my skin! Fear not because I have an amazing self tanner to share with you all, Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning for Face and Décolleté, a 125ml bottle will cost you around £17.00.

Product details
An efficient new way to successfully apply a self tanner. As refreshing as water, delicately fragranced Liquid Bronze can be applied with a cotton pad, allowing all skin tones, even the fairest, to achieve a natural-looking, radiant glow all year round. Ensures perfectly even results , without the sun, any time of year. For a darker, more intense tan, simply add another coat. Leaves skin soft, moisturised and protected against free radicals.

How to use
For a more radiant and even result, exfoliate skin the night before. Apply a small amount of self tanner with quick, light sweeping motions (avoiding the eyebrows and hairline). Gently wipe elbows, knees and heels with a tissue, as these areas can turn a darker colour. Wash hands and nails thoroughly after application. Wait a few minutes before dressing.

My thoughts
I was first introduced to this facial self tanner by a very tanned friend. She said that you apply it with a cotton pad which instantly interested me because it sounded easy peasy to use. I'd never really tried anything by Clarins before and it seemed like a good product to start with.

Firstly I like the bottle. It's a nice sturdy plastic bottle with a screw cap and pouring cap inside so you can control the flow of the product. It's a good size for the money I think as more often than not facial tanners are in pretty small bottles and with this you can see how much you've got left.

The ease of application is the main selling point for me. You can simply wipe the product across your face, neck and chest on a cotton pad just as you would a toner. Or you can apply it with fingers. I use both methods. But there's very little if any fuss required with either method. That's why I like it so much. There's not really any prep involved.

The product has got a definite smell to it. I find if I apply it a bit generously then it smells more than if I simply do a quick swipe across my face. Depending on whether you like the smell you can of course tailor your application method to suit your nose!

The consistency is fresh and almost gel-like. It doesn't clog your pores or leave you feeling greasy or shiny.

It has no colour guide which some may find off putting but you'll soon realise that this product is very forgiving and if you've missed a tiny spot it won't show that much.

The colour isn't too full on. I always apply mine at night and when I awake I have a lovely healthy sunkissed glow about me. It certainly takes the edge off pasty skin. A couple of nights of using this and you begin to build up more of a deeper tan.

It's definitely a staple product in my skincare routine and I will repurchase when it runs out, an absolute favourite 5/5.

SATURDAY SHOPPING AND NEW HAIR

I went into town today because I wanted to buy these Topshop gloves and this Topshop scarf. Well my Topshop was so rubbish it had neither. Instead I went into Warehouse and to compensate I bought myself the handbag I'd been lusting after for ages instead. Isn't she a beaut? Anyone fancy an updated what's in my bag post? Comment below!

Then I popped into Superdrug (sooo much cheaper than Boots) because I wanted to see if they had the Dove Nourishing Oil Care Express Treatment Conditioner, as raved about by Vivianna Does Makeup. It was reduced to a miniscule £1.60! I'm so excited to try it, it smells divine!

I was perusing the NYC stand, I've never tried any of their products before. The Quick Dry Nail Polishes took my fancy. I couldn't resist the New York place names and it was two for £2.49 so I couldn't turn my nose up at that could I! I bought Chelsea (right) and Canal Street (left).

Superdrug have 50% off all skincare at the moment. I am pretty set for my skincare routine but when I saw the new Kleenex Eye Makeup Removal Wipes for £1.49 I thought I'd get them to try after I've finished up my Simple Eye Makeup Remover (which by the way I think stings my eyes, has anyone else found this?).

That was all I bought today...well except for some foodie bits from M&S. Oh how I'd love to be able to do my weekly shop in there! On a different note, I'm not sure I mentioned but I had my hair done last week, it's quite a bit darker, here's a peek. If you're wondering I had dark blonde lowlights that was all, oh and also a cut. :)

Have a lovely weekend girls, I'll be enjoying my M&S dinner and watching Strictly Come Dancing this evening. Have fun whatever you're doing!

September favourites

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette. I'm using this most days and I love it sooo much! I have had a few days where I've dabbled with my MAC palette but they have been few and far between since this has entered my life.

2. VO5 Miracle Concentrate. This stuff is so wonderful. Keeps my hair super shiny and healthy looking without weighing it down.

3. MAC Fix+ Rose. I've been using this to "thin down" my foundation and set my makeup. Using this there is absolutely no cakeyness in sight.

4. MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage. A recent purchase but I have fallen in love with it. When I forgot to use it the other morning I was mortified and my foundation looked rubbish as the day wore on. I will do a full review of this shortly.

5. MAC Prolongwear Concealer in NW20. Another newish purchase for covering my undereye circles. Being a NW tone really does help to disguise them and it lasts all day without looking cakey or heavy.

6. MAC Feline Kohl Power eyeliner. I had lost this (it had fallen behind my dressing table) but found it recently and really missed it! I use it to line my lower lashline and it lasts all day and looks great. I don't line my waterline because that's really not good for your eyes when you wear contact lenses like I do.

7. Garnier Mineral deodorant. Not something I'd usually talk about on here but I really think this product is great. No white marks, constant freshness throughout the day and it's paraben free which when you're taking about deodorants is very important.
